The global generosity movement GivingTuesday was created in 2012, in response to Black Friday and CyberMonday shopping frenzy as a day that encourages people to do good. Join the movement on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, and give whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice in your local community.

Help LWV-Comal Area make a difference in our community Make a Donation.  This year, we responded to increased requests for nonpartisan election information by doubling the number of information flyers and printed Voters Guides we distributed throughout Comal & Guadalupe Counties.  We need your support to continue expanding our voter education efforts in our growing community.

From the President

The Texas Tribune is reporting 45.7% of registered voters cast a ballot in the Texas 2022 Midterm Elections.  That's the second highest turnout in the last 20 years (2018 was 7.3% higher).  As usual, turnout in our area was higher than the state overall at 57.17%  in Comal and 47.79% in Guadalupe. Thank you to everyone who helped empower voters!  LWV Comal Area is committed to continuing expansion of our Get-Out-The-Vote efforts and we couldn't do it without our member and community partner volunteers.

Check out the calendar above and on the website for upcoming events.  I hope you can attend the Unity Service Award this Sunday, Nov. 13; and then on Dec. 17, please join us at the Holiday Brunch.  It's a fun time with good eats and a chance to discuss upcoming events like 2023 public forums and LWVTexas Lobby Days scheduled Feb 27-28. Renowned hostess Fran Hargrove will be mailing invitations to members soon with RSVP details and more information.

Our final fundraiser for 2022 is Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29.  All proceeds will go to voter education and we need your support.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving and I hope to see you soon.

- Jerrie Champlin

During October, 9 members and 33 community partners spent 79 hours distributing election flyers and 4,000 printed Voter Guides, and speaking with 965 voters person-to-person.  This fall election cycle, VOTE411, social media, advertising, press releases and recorded candidate forums reached over 100,000 voters in Comal and Guadalupe Counties.

Way to go LWV-CA volunteers!

Thank you for empowering voters and defending democracy!
