From the President

Recently, I have been browsing our archives to pull together my last presentation as President of the LWVCA. They record an amazing number of events and volunteer hours to empower voters and defend democracy in our community, our state and our nation over the past 32 years. Last month, I moderated several candidate forums ahead of the local May elections, a task that always reminds me how important it is to engage citizens at a grassroots level. These activities bolstered my spirit as the LWVUS launched the Unite and Rise 8.5 initiative to protect and preserve our democracy. I encourage each of you to stay engaged in our mission.  Volunteering with the LWV is the best antidote for anxiety arising from the attacks on our democracy.

In June and July, the new President and Board of Directors will start planning for LWVCA's 2025-2026 year.  What programs or projects do you think are needed? Share your ideas by Contacting Us and/or attending the annual meeting. Thank you members for honoring me with the privilege of leading the Comal Area League for the past 4 years.  I hope to see you this Wednesday at the annual meeting to thank you in person.

Gratefully,
Jerrie Champlin
